Associate Managing Editor

Job Responsibilities:

Creates and manages schedules, and assigns copy editors, for front list Highlights books.

Chairs weekly book status meetings.

Maintains book division status report.

Meets weekly with individual editors to help them prioritize projects.

Copyedits, formats and proofreads selected Highlights book division front list titles and marketing materials through all stages of production, from manuscript to bound book or printed material, included but not limited to book maps, sketch dummies, passes, proofs, and advance copies.

Circulates materials to Editorial, Design, and Production, efficiently and according to appropriate workflows.

Compiles and clarifies all editorial and copyediting comments before routing to Design or Production.

Manages BMP and Top Secret reprints, ensuring proper updates and corrections are made for each printing.

Performs cold reads of books, as needed.

Draft process documents, as needed.

Provides training and guidance to staff, as needed.

Attends monthly Editorial meetings.


Bachelor s Degree.

Excellent copy-editing and proofreading skill

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn our existing software.

Experience with InCopy is a plus.

Ability to easily take on new tasks as they arise and reprioritize appropriately.

Self-motivated and able to manage a large workload in a fast-paced environment.

2 3 years of experience in publishing (or a related field) required.

Relocation to Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
